We are:

a non-profit, non governmantal organisation linked to the "Bicyle Sponsorship Project & Workshop" which is supported by "Jugendhilfe Ostafrika e.V." in Germany

BSPW is cooperating with DED (Deutscher Entwicklungsdienst)

We are located at:

Jinja-Kampala Highway, just next to Nile Breweries.

Our objectives are:

support the users of bicycle in Uganda, especially the professional ones like bicycle-taxi-riders (boda-boda) and transporters of goods

provide and collect all data relevant regarding bicycles in Uganda to make possible and effective bicycle development

We do:

organise events to draw people´s attention to the bicycle as a sustainable means of transport as there are:

  • bicycle rallies
  • exhibitions
  • video shows
  • seminaries of bicycle maintenance
  • provide a library on the topic of bicycles as a sustainable means of transport - open to the public
  • road-safety lessons at schools
  • offer consultancy-services for other NGOs who consider bicycles as a sustainable means of transport

Our motives are:

  • lack of statistic material about bicycle use in Uganda:
  • How many persons use them?
    For which purpose?
How long can they be used till they are wrecked?
On which roads are they used?
    and many others.

    environmental awarness:
the bicycle is a non-poluting, affordable vehicle that does not need big roads and lots of parking space, nor does it depand on petro

for most of the rural population the bicycle is the only affordable vehicle and they need more support
